Drive Sets

In function model building low speed electric motors with rotation speeds between 5000 and 10.000 rpm are quite popular. These drive sets run quietly, are subject to much less wear and need little speed reduction. The required output power is often evaluated incorrectly. For a simple model in size 1/14 the required output power amounts from 10 up to 15W. A drive motor should ideally be operated in nominal power mode. Neither the application of a too small motor nor the application of a too large motor make sense, because the drive system works with a bad efficiency and the achievable driving time with one battery charge is not ideal.

Brush motors are still first choice for the main drive in functional model building. A comparable starting and wide rev range is hard to achieve with brushless drives, plus the advantages, such as better efficiency and low weight, can hardly be met.

Our planetary gear motors work well as space-saving underfloor drive systems. The gears run very quietly and free of play. You can choose out of a variety of motors for models in the size 1/14, 1/16 and 1/8. The spur gear motors RB were selected especially for spindle drives and for direct drives (which means one motor per wheel). Our models are above the RB-35 standard and utilize skewed motor pinions.

In the category motors, we are offering the TM72 and the TM120 truck motors for models in scale 1/14 up to 1/16.

The Servonaut motors are already internally interference suppressed, or the necessary suppression kit is being delivered together with our product. Three capacitors are included in such case.
