Servos are offered in a vast variety. Unfortunately, most types are optimized for model aircrafts - and that means for the highest possible speeds, often without regard to the power consumption.

In functional model building we don’t need high positioning speeds. On the contrary: the high power consumption of digital high-speed servos can cause errors in truck electronics.

That's why we offer a range of reliable servos for the supply via the receiver.

As a steering servo we recommend the HS-645 for a model in the size 1:14 to 1:16.

With the Servonaut BEC4, the universal servo trimmer TRIM and the Servonaut CARD we are expanding the range of servos and servo power supplies.

A tip regarding Servonaut radios HS12, HS16 and other systems that can turn off servo signals at the receiver: There are more and more servos on the market that don’t loose power when the control signal from the receiver is shut off, but continue to hold the position. Disadvantage: Even with an inactive model a lot of power is consumed and the servos may hum or whistle. The servo shutdown function of the HS16 and RX9 will not work either. There's only one thing to do: rely on proven servos, such as the ones from Hitec we offer here at Servonaut.

Another important tip: If a servo seems too weak, you don’t always need a stronger servo. Please rethink the setup first! Anyone who reduces the servo travel with their radio ultimately gives away torque and should rather place the linkage further inside the servo horn or even drill an additional hole. The old rule still applies: First carefully optimize the mechanical linkage, then only make small adjustments with your radio. By the way: Even with the full scale vehicle nobody can steer when the wheels are stuck in the mud up to the axle...
